Part of Derrick Santini's ongoing exploration of lenticular portraiture, Kyle: Transformations examines the fluid nature of identity through a sequence of layered photographic states.
Constructed from multiple portraits and brought together through the lenticular process, the work transforms as the viewer moves, revealing subtle shifts in expression, gesture, styling and persona. The image exists not as a single photograph but as a series of interconnected moments occupying the same visual space.
Rather than presenting identity as fixed, Santini embraces its complexity and ambiguity. Through movement and transformation, the work explores themes of self-expression, performance, gender, perception and reinvention.
