Pearce stars as Michael Sleep in Mackenzie Crook’s acclaimed BBC comedy-drama Small Prophets, alongside Sir Michael Palin, Lauren Patel and Mackenzie Crook. Following its successful BBC Two and BBC iPlayer debut, the series launches internationally on Apple TV in October 2026.
One of Britain’s most distinctive character actors, Pearce is also known for playing Russell in the much-loved Detectorists and Gospel John in Guy Ritchie’s Netflix series The Gentlemen. His recent work also includes Showtrial, Bank of Dave 2 and The Full Monty.
Working with instinct, warmth and a strong sense of character, Derrick creates intimate film and television portraits that feel cinematic, authentic and emotionally connected. Here, he captures Pearce’s unmistakable presence, quiet intensity and wonderfully individual spirit.
